We had a great night last night in CG talking through the parable in Luke 11 about the persistent friend. Over and over again I talk with people who have a desire to pray more passionately and consistently, but aren't sure how. Prayer is a vital habit for followers of Jesus. We have to get this right. If anything is going to happen in Boston and through Grace City it will happen, because God's people are praying.
In talking about prayer last night I mentioned the ACTS prayer acronym. This is a great process for helping others (and ourselves) understand how to pray. I wanted to provide this below for your reference. This is what we teach as a part of our discipleship process.
This is used mostly to help people stay organized and keep them from over focusing on one particular area in their prayer life. There is no one way to pray, but I have found this to be simple and really helpful. Praying for each of you.
A: Adoration (Worship God)
C: Confession (Admit your failures)
T: Thanksgiving (Thank him)
S: Supplication (Make requests)
